For over a decade, Kansas City's The Matchsellers have blended traditional roots music with inventive storytelling, humor, and theatrical flair. Led by Andrew Morris and Julie Bates, the group is known for rich harmonies, exceptional musicianship, and unforgettable live performances that are equal parts heartfelt, hilarious, and surprising.
Their current lineup includes banjoist and puppeteer Matthew Hawkins and bassist Dan Perez, bringing together bluegrass virtuosity and diverse musical influences. Acclaimed albums and performances have earned the band appearances on NPR's Mountain Stage, official showcases at Folk Alliance International, and tours across the U.S. and Europe.
